An Impressive Start for the GEBHARDT MOTORSPORT USA Team during the 2026 IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge Season Opener
Daytona, FL, January 18, 2026: Oscar Tunjo delivered an exceptional performance during the 2026 IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge here at Daytona this weekend. Tunjo started the week off by setting a record lap during qualifying, he then continued to build momentum for race 1 by taking the win over Brady Golan. On day two, Tunjo continued his performance in the rain and delivered another first-place performance.
“It’s been a great weekend,” said Oscar Tunjo, racecar driver of the No. 1 GEBHARDT MOTORSPORT USA Duqueine 08 car. “We had two pole positions, a track record during qualifying, and two victories,” continued Tunjo.
“With back-to-back first place podium finishes, and a third-place podium showing during race one from Danny Soufi, we feel like it’s going to be a good year,” said Fritz Gebhardt, Global CEO of GEBHARDT Group, which includes GEBHARDT MOTORSPORT USA. “Anytime that you can get a podium finish here at Daytona, you know that your team has what it takes to perform all season long. Plus, we will continue our development of the GEBHARDT Young Driver Academy here in the States as well with Swiss driver Jérémy Siffert in the No. 31 Duqueine D08,” continued Gebhardt.
2026 marks the first year that GEBHARDT MOTORSPORT USA will race the entire season in North America during the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge series.
